Over 70% Of All Digital Content To Be User Generated By 2010

According to a new IDC study,

"...Nearly 70% of the digital universe will be generated by individuals by 2010, and that most of this content will be facilitated by an organization along the way..."

and furthermore:

"This ever-growing mass of information will put a strain on the IT infrastructure and organizations will need to employ ever-more sophisticated techniques to transport, store, monitor, secure and replicate the additional information that is being generated every day."

Ah, yes. Trust IDC to publish the obvious. Even if the first statement needed to be validated by empirical study (thus justifying the big subscription fees they command from their corporate clients) the second is a truism.

Yeah but Mark, you would be shocked at how many people don't see this as obvious at all.

It reminds me of working at the Agency after the whole .bomb thing and the guy who ran the retail group basically said to me, "see I told you this whole Interent thing is a fad."
